Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who has achieved great success with the tales she tells of her young heartbreak. Swift had a passion for music since a young stage of her life. She swiftly rose through in the ranks, beginning as a child actor and then performing before a large crowd. When she was 11 years old, she performed The Star-Spangled Banner before a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. the following year she took up guitar and began writing songs. Swift, who took her inspirations from Shania Twain's music and that of her band the Dixie Chicks now known as The Chicks within the realm of music from the country genre, wrote her original songs to reflect her feelings of alienation. Swift relocated from Pennsylvania with her parents to Hendersonville, Tennessee when she was 13 years old to dedicate more time to reaching out to the country music labels.
